Assessment of previous High School education
Assessing Foreign Education for Bachelor’s Admission at VŠE
If you completed your secondary education outside the Czech Republic or Slovakia, your education must be assessed as part of the admission process. This is to ensure that your qualification meets the requirements for admission to a bachelor’s degree program at the University of Economics, Prague (VŠE).
What is the Assessment?
VŠE has the right to assess foreign education internally due to its Institutional Accreditation. This means you generally do not need to submit a general recognition (nostrification) unless the university raises specific concerns about your previous education. In most cases, this simplifies the process for applicants.
When is the Assessment Initiated?
The process begins automatically once you submit and pay for your application in the Integrated Study and Information System (InSIS). If you would like the process to start earlier, you can request this through the Applicant Contact Centre in InSIS.
For English-taught programs, no additional fee for the assessment is required.
If you apply to more than one bachelor’s program, the foreign education assessment is completed only once and is valid for all bachelor-level programs applied for in the same admission period.
You will be notified by email when the process starts, and a new section called “Education Assessment” will appear in your InSIS application, including the option to pay the assessment fee (if applicable).

Overview:
Documents Required
If you completed secondary education abroad, you must submit:
1. An officially certified copy of your secondary school leaving certificate (e.g., diploma).
2. A confirmation from the foreign secondary school or competent authority stating that the certificate entitles its holder to apply for university-level studies in the country where it was issued.
3. Official translations of the above documents into Czech or English (if they are not originally in one of these languages).
How to Submit the Documents
For documents issued in the Czech Republic or Slovakia:
• Submit them electronically in InSIS.
• The documents must be in digitally signed form or obtained through guaranteed conversion.
• Upload them directly in the “Documents” section of your application.
For documents issued in other countries:
• If you do not have a digital version, send hard copies by post to:
University of Economics, Prague
Legal Department
nám. W. Churchilla 4
130 67 Prague 3
Czech Republic
You will receive an automatic email once your documents are received and accepted.
Assessment Result
You will be notified of the outcome through your InSIS application.
• If the result is positive, it is valid for all bachelor-level applications submitted before the assessment.
• Upon request, and especially for visa purposes, the university may issue an official confirmation of the assessment result.
If the result is negative due to doubts about the level or content of your previous education, you may be asked to provide a general recognition (nostrification) under Section 48 of the Czech Higher Education Act. If this is not provided, you cannot be admitted to study.
