Registration and Enrollment to the courses

COURSES REGISTRATION AND ENROLLMENT PROCEDURE

The registration and enrollment periods are in Academic Calendar

The registration and enrollment of courses at the Prague University of Economics and Business can be done only through the Integrated Study Information System (InSIS). There is no other option.

Step 1: Course Registration

Course registration is the first step, where students indicate their interest in specific courses.

  • Why Registration is Important:
If a course is not registered, the student will not be included in the enrollment process (except for courses with available spots after enrollment). Registration is particularly critical for compulsory courses.
  • How Registration Works:
Even if a course appears to have no capacity, students should still register if they are interested. The system functions as an order-based system rather than a first-come, first-served basis. The timing of registration during the registration period does not influence enrollment.

Step 2: Automated Enrollment

After registration, the automated enrollment process takes place, which is entirely managed by the system.

  • How It Works:
If a course has more registered students than available spots, the system automatically selects which students are enrolled.
  • Student Responsibility:
After the automated enrollment, students must check their InSIS account to confirm which courses they have been automatically enrolled in.

Step 3: Enrollment Rounds

Following automated enrollment, students can enrol in courses with available spots during three rounds of manual enrollment. This process is time-sensitive and based on a first-come, first-served basis.

  1. 1st Round:
    • Enrollment for compulsory courses that students registered for during registration.
  2. 2nd Round:
    • Enrollment for both compulsory and optional courses from the registration list.
  3. 3rd Round:
    • Enrollment for any courses, including those not registered for previously.

Step 4: Changes During the Teaching Week

During the first week of classes, students can make additional changes to their enrollment:

  • Adding Courses: Students may add courses only if there is available capacity.
  • Dropping Courses: Students cannot drop courses if doing so would result in a lower ECTS credit count than what was assigned during automated enrollment.

Important Notes

  • Planning Ahead:
Before registration starts, students in the program will receive a detailed list of courses for the upcoming semester from the program coordinator. This list will help them plan their schedule effectively.
  • Registration Process (from the 2nd Semester Onwards):
Students will manage their registration independently in InSIS:

    1. Go to the Student’s Portal in InSIS.
    2. Select Registration/Enrollment.
    3. Add courses by searching for their code or part of the name.
    4. Click Add Selected Courses.
    5. Select a timetable (if multiple options are available).
    6. If required, choose a Language or Group (e.g., oV, oV2).

Helpful Tips

  • Timetable and Group Selection:
Some courses require you to choose specific time slots, languages, or groups. Be sure to finalize these details during registration.
  • Keep Track of ECTS Requirements:
Ensure you maintain the required credit load throughout the enrollment process to avoid complications.
