Procedure for recognition of short-term internships abroad

As part of your studies, you can have your short-term internship abroad accepted for 6 credits as 55F350 Short-Term Foreign Internship. The internship allows undergraduate or graduate students to gain valuable practical experience by completing an internship abroad.

Basic parameters of internships

  • The internship is carried out in private and public sector institutions abroad, but excluding EU institutions, institutions and other EU bodies, including specialised agencies (https://europa.eu/european-union/about-eu/institutions-bodies_cs) and organisations managing EU programmes, such as Erasmus+ national agencies.
  • Traineeships can only be undertaken in Erasmus+ programme countries (not overseas) and outside the Czech Republic and outside your country of origin.
  • The duration of the traineeship is usually approximately 3 months.
  • A student going on a practical placement can study any year of studies.
  • The scope of the internship includes tasks that correspond to the student’s field of study. The traineeship must not be financially remunerated (however, the student receives an Erasmus+ scholarship in an amount depending on the destination country chosen).
  • The student produces a professional term paper of 15-20 standard pages of essays, in relation to the internship (see below for details).
  • The student will also receive 12 reserve credit vouchers upon completion of the internship.
  • Internships are primarily for students of the Faculty of Economics

 

1.Organisational guidelines

  • The student will contact the Vice Dean for International Relations with the details of his/her internship. The Associate Dean will assess the suitability of the internship for recognition of 55F350 and will identify a supervisor for the internship.
  • The student will prepare the necessary documents (Training Agreement) and arrange for the signing of the documents at the institution where the internship will be performed. The Vice Dean for International Relations will sign the document on behalf of the NF.Course of the internship

2. Course of the internship

  • The student works in the relevant department of the institution, communicates with his/her supervisor during the internship regarding the semester project and continuously works on its concept.

3. Enrolment in the course

  • The internship takes place outside the semester, usually in January-February and May-September.
  • After returning from the internship, or before the beginning of the following semester, the student submits a certificate of completion and a description of the internship to the Vice Dean for International Relations.
  • Upon completion of the internship, the student will be allowed to register for 55F350.

4. Internship Project

  • A minimum of 15 pages of essay;
  • combination of theoretical knowledge with practical knowledge gained during the internship;
  • the topic must correspond to the internship, approved by the supervisor;
  • Formal requirements correspond to the requirements for qualification papers.

5. Final evaluation and defence

  • The supervisor sets a deadline for the submission of the semester project, sets a date for the defence of the semester project with the participation of the supervisor and another academic staff member.

From when the internship can be recognised towards the degree: from LS 2022/2023 onwards
