Assessment of Previous Secondary Education
Assessment of Foreign Secondary Education for Bachelor’s Admission
If you completed your secondary education outside the Czech Republic or Slovakia, your education will be assessed as part of the admission process. The assessment verifies that your qualification meets the requirements for admission to a bachelor’s program at the Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE).
What Is the Assessment?
As an institutionally accredited university, VŠE is authorized to assess foreign education itself. This means that, in most cases, you do not need to obtain general recognition of your education (nostrification). You will only be asked to do so if the university has specific doubts about your previous education.
When Does the Assessment Start?
The assessment starts once you have submitted your application in InSIS, paid the application fee, and provided your documents, either by uploading them electronically to InSIS or by sending them to VŠE by post.
You will be notified by email when the assessment starts, and a new section called “Education Assessment” will appear in your InSIS application.
Fees and Multiple Applications
- There is no assessment fee for English-taught programs.
- If you apply to more than one bachelor’s program within VŠE, your education is assessed only once. The result applies to all bachelor’s programs you have applied to in the same admission period.
The complete information is available HERE.
Documents Required for Assessment of Previous Secondary Education
If you completed your secondary education abroad, you must submit the following:
- An officially certified copy of your secondary school leaving certificate (e.g., a diploma).
- Written confirmation from the foreign secondary school or a competent authority that the certificate entitles its holder to apply for university studies in the country where it was issued.VŠE does not provide a template for this confirmation; its format is at the discretion of the issuing institution.
- Official translations of the above documents into Czech or English, if they are not issued in one of these languages.
Documents Issued in the Czech Republic or Slovakia
Upload your documents electronically in the “Documents” section of your application in InSIS. The documents must be either digitally signed originals or authorized electronic conversions of paper documents (autorizovaná konverze in Czech, zaručená konverzia in Slovak).
Documents Issued in Other Countries
If your documents are available in a digitally verifiable form, upload them in the “Documents” section of your application in InSIS. Otherwise, send officially certified paper copies by post to:
Prague University of Economics and Business
Legal Department
nám. W. Churchilla 1938/4
130 67 Praha 3
Czech Republic
You will receive an automatic email once your documents have been received and accepted.
Assessment Result
You will be notified of the outcome through your InSIS application.
- If the result is positive, it applies to all bachelor’s applications you submitted before the assessment.
- On request, especially for visa purposes, the university can issue an official confirmation of the assessment result.
If the university has doubts about the level or content of your previous education, you may be asked to provide general recognition of your education (nostrification) under Section 48 of the Czech Higher Education Act. If you do not provide it, you cannot be admitted.
